Notice:
Please take the time to make public comment re: the wetlands permit request by Matt Miles now under review by the Army Corps of Engineers.
The Sunday, March 4th, issue of the Montrose Daily Press has an article titled
'River Landing wetlands permit under review by Army Corps'.
It states:
'The federal agency that regulates the nation's waterways has opened its review of the effects the River Landing Shopping Center will have on the Uncompahgre River and its associated wetlands.
Matt Miles, the developer of River Landing, submitted a permit application that would allow construction work to put dredged and fill material into the river or its floodplain.
If approved, the work would impact nearly 2.4 acres along the river, which runs to the southwest and west sides of the 57 acre site where construction on the shopping center is currently underway.
Ken Jacobson, chief of the agency's regulatory office in Grand Junction, said comments will be collected as part of an environmental assessment, which also affords the applicant a chance to respond to public comment.
The Army Corps will then use the comments as part of its decision whether to issue, modify or deny the permit. . . .The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will accept public comment until April 1.'
